It happens to us all over time but we all pick up bad habits when it comes to food. There can be a number of reasons such as too little time, job stresses or we just never learnt correct information about food, diet and nutrition. Developing the right eating habits to lose weight successfully can make all the difference and it really is not that difficult to do.

Eat smaller, more frequent meals
If you are conscious that you would like to lose weight there is often the temptation to try and skip a meal most often breakfast. But this rarely works as most people will end up snacking during the day or eating a huge dinner to make up for it. If you accept that you will feel hungry and instead eat 4 to 6 small meals during the day spaced out evenly, then you should be able to avoid the bad junk food.
Make sure the portions are small though, or it will defeat the point.
Eat smaller portions
This leads onto the next point which is that just because you may be eating healthy food you still need to watch you are not eating huge portions. Get a smaller plate so you cannot pile the food on top and stay within your recommended amounts per day.
Eat slowly
Most people when eating shovel the food down as they enjoy it so much. I used to do that too and it was natural to me. But some good advice I received was to eat slowly and chew the food. Make sure you do not swallow before properly chewing and you will feel yourself get fuller much quicker.
Make a plan
Try not to leave it to chance and make a plan for what you will be eating. If you are relying on guesswork then chances are you will go over the recommended number of calories. Try to make a meal plan before you go food shopping and do not buy any extra to give you the temptation. I have found this works very well and helps to reduce the amount I eat.
